Mick Henry Layout

Description
This layout was originally in a double garage owned by the late Mick Henry, a former member of Far North Queensland Model Railway Club. The layout was donated to the CMRC by his estate, but it required extensive modifications before being suitable for Club use. The aisles were very narrow and had to widened for wheelchair access. This made the final layout much larger than the original, especially when a section need to be added to remove a "duck-under". Renovations started at our Mulgrave Road venue and the layout continues to evolve as new dioramas are being developed and existing track is modified to suit a Club environment. It continues to be a 'work in progress' requiring many more hours of dedicated work to achieve completion. (It is said that a model railway layout is never completed). Despite the amount of work being done, the layout remains operational and many club members run their trains on most Saturday afternoons and occasionally during the week. It has had as many as eight trains being operated simultaneously.
